It's hard to say who had more fun, the students or me? African cloth draped around the door for the students to walk into the room with only natural light, African music playing, and my African artifacts ALL over the front of the room. We sat in an African chair, wore an African shirt, saw the game, and investigated artifacts all day long. They students handled each object with care and really enjoyed the day! I will be loading pictures soon.

Every year, I wonder if I will fall in love with another group of students like I did the previous year. Somehow, the magic just happens. After just a few short hours that just flew by yesterday, I was already in love and couldn't wait to see them today. Now, I can't wait for tomorrow! Exhausted, but still soooooooo excited to share Africa and a little bit of Guyana with my new students tomorrow. I told them we were going on Safari. And it is! That's the beauty of teaching. You can take the kids anywhere you want to go. Hakuna matata!
This past week while working in my classroom, God gave me a gift! One of my former 6th grade students from Prescott Middle School in Cookeville, contacted me. I was thrilled to find that she has graduated from Brigham Young University and will be teaching 6th grade. You can imagine how much her thank you for being her teacher after ten years made me want to jump for joy! And, this is what it's all about people! This is the stuff that fuels the teacher's fire! And Macee Grady is the very first fifth grader to earn extra Dojo points by going to visit the website! Woohoo!!!!!
I am so ready for my second year in 5th Grade at Blythe Blower Elementary! As I met students and parents last Thursday night, the excitement began to mount again for my 26th year in the classroom! THIS makes me smile! See you soon!
I tried to delete everything from last school year and start fresh, but I can't figure out how to get this post erased or at least hidden. :) It deleted the post, but kept the title.
